Here are a few more photos of our home....
The cross was a Christmas gift that my husband, Jeri, made for me! On the bed and wall are a few of the quilts I've made!
Please come in! Welcome to our home. Recently, Jenny Malot, publisher of AhaH! magazine did an article about our home. Check out the article here http://issuu.com/jennymalott/docs/ahahoct2014 Here are a few more photos of our home.... This is where it all happens, sitting around the table! Always set the table for a meal (not just for special occasions), sit down with your family, enjoy good conversation, and EAT! In our bedroom you will also find things we have made. The cross was a Christmas gift that my husband, Jeri, made for me! On the bed and wall are a few of the quilts I've made! As you can see I like to change the decor in my house often! I love to decorate for the seasons. So, I've already got my fall decor out! Every fall I have a brunch and serve up my pumpkin waffles!

This weekend the Mission in San Luis Obispo was chalked up with colorful street paintings created by artists. Thank you to John & Dianne Conner, owners of Petit Soleil for sponsoring Natellie Saia. I enjoyed the day watching the artist's creations come to life! I was intrigued by the different ways they positioned themselves to draw...knees, bum, toes?? HapPy gO SmiLe... is your 4th of July Headquarters! 36 N. Ocean Ave Cayucos, Ca A long standing family tradition is to CeLeBraTe the 4th of July by participating in the Cayucos parade. This will be our 25th year in the parade! Here's a little hint about our float theme this year...... The store is decorated and the HapPy go 4th of July shirts are in! Stop by, have a cupcake and say "HI" while you are in town! Watch for us in the parade, Barb & Betsey! To celebrate our 30th anniversary my husband and I abandoned 30 hearts. The art abandonment project is a group of artists from all over the world that leave art for people to find. My wish is that it brings a smile to the person's face that finds it! My daughter and I painted 30 art boards, each board had a red heart on it. #3 heart was left at this park in the Tenderloin. My daughter took a sports service in society class at NDNU where they would give clinics at this park. Her professor, Dr.Don, started this project to give kids in the Tenderloin a safe haven. As you can see it is fenced off and the only way in is through a building. We tossed the heart over the fence and if you look closely you can see it on the bridge. #4 heart was abandoned at AT&T Park and found by....... Casey Rasmussen White My husband found number four at the Giants ballpark today. He's a painter there. He was excited to show me because I'm a watercolor artist and I teach in Pleasant Hill. I would love to find out more about the art abandonment project~ VERY cOoL! (found heART)

I also wanted to give Pat & Wendy Ryan a huge THANK YOU! None of this would have been possible without your incredible friendship and help. HapPy go Art Abandonment! This piece of art is part of an art abandonment project that I'm participating in. I wanted to leave it on the bench that is in memory of my grandparents. When I got to the top of the stairs I realized there were to many people at the park and I would be spotted. So, I left it on the bench at the top of the stairs. A little while later I received this post on the HapPy gO SmiLe facebook page from Monica Romero Matthews Oh my gosh, oh my gosh...I found it! This is my last day in Morro Bay. My parents and several relatives live here. I live in Michigan but am here for my uncle's funeral. This has been such an emotional week for my whole family. I took a long run from my mom's house out to the rock and sat on my Grandad's bench for a minute before I ran the last 1/4 mile up the hill. Yes, that's right, my Grandad's bench. That bench that you left the picture on was donated by my family in honor of my grandfather, Dr. William Cahill, after he passed away 10 years ago. I sat down and was already emotional and then saw the picture. Wow, waterworks all over again, but also a big smile. Thank you SO much! This piece of art will be carefully transported back to Michigan today and lovingly hung up in my home. It will always remind me of my dear Uncle Tommy and this difficult yet amazing week of seeing aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many relatives that I haven't seen in a very long time. What a gift, a total treasure. That's what it's all about....spreading kindness! Check out Art Abandonment's facebook page. I joined this group about a week ago and was so inspired by all the stories that I could hardly wait to abandon my first piece of art! Now I'm hooked! This piece is on it's way to Brazil. I met Beatrice in the online painting class I took. We thought it would be fun to send each other a piece of art to abandon so far from home! Stay tuned to find out who finds this piece in Brazil! Join us Saturday, from 9-11, at HapPy gO SmiLe 36 N. Ocean Ave Cayucos, CA Make a piece of art to abandon! Wishing you many ART abandonment adventures.... Barb & Betsey HapPy gO ART classes at HapPy gO SmiLe! Join the fun on Saturdays from 9:00-11:00 am (RSVP by Thursday for Saturday class) or book your own party! Anyone can do this! I recently took an online mixed media & collage course and learned so many fun new techniques that I'd like to share with you! First, we play with paint! Squirt a few colors on the board and finger paint just like when you were 5 years old! Then we ad some fun designs! Who knew you could make polka a dots with your finger tips! Ad a few more layers of paint with sponges, collage in pictures, stamp a few letters on there..... and wipe your hands off! Stay curious! Let's see what happens when we spray it with water! Life is a beautiful MESS! Drying your ART between layers of paint creates new designs! I believe everyone is an artist! We all have ART inside us....Let it out! Here are a few of the pieces I've created. ART has really helped me through these past 2 years. This I know for sure....CreAtiVity is the winner over stress. Your mind cannot create and stress at the same time. So, CrEaTe something everyday! "We all go through major transitions in our lives. There are many – death, moves, illness, career changes, and more. These transitions ask us to surrender, to trust the journey, to allow an unfolding of a whole new way of being in the world. They are the markers, these pivotal moments in our lives. They are opportunities to deepen our connection to ourselves, to our spirits, and to the abundance and lives that are waiting for us on the other side of transition." Kelly Rae Roberts This is what the other side of transition looks like for me and I love it! Granted most people don't go through all of that in 2 years, but that's how I do it! So, I've opened a business called HapPy gO SmiLe. It's a little shop in Cayucos where you can EAT cUpCaKeS that make you HapPy ,gO to create ART, and shop for things that make you SMILE! Join in the fun! Take a class and have a cupcake! Remember to like our new HapPy gO cUpCakeS facebook page, too! Wishing you many creative adventures, Barb & Betsey It's all about the hunt! One of those things you do when time just passes by and you have no idea how long you have been walking the beach. Every step you take you search for a little sparkle of color. Sea glass can be found in many colors....blue, green, white and brown are the most common. Yellow, orange, and purple glass are pretty rare. But, the rarest is RED! This photo was taken last year at the Cayucos Sea Glass Festival. It's beautiful to display in glass jars or with candles! I love the way the light shines through this candle! My favorite glass of all..... RED SEA GLASS! This was a gift from my dear friend Dawnee! My biggest, most treasured piece of glass. It is a glass tail light from an old car! |
